Opportunity Alert: European Institute of the Mediterranean Workshop on Gender Equality Advocacy (4 -9 April 2016 ), Morocco (Fully Funded)

This call is to select 24 representatives of civil society organizations working in favor of gender equality (hereafter, organizations) based in the southern Mediterranean to participate in a workshop scheduled in Morocco in April 2016 to improve their skills to carry out advocacy actions


This call for participants forms part of the CSO WINS project: Capacity Building in the Southern Mediterranean to open policy dialogue and monitoring for women in society, funded by the Neighbourhood Civil Society Facility of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument of the European Union. .
The candidates selected in the framework of this call will have the opportunity to:
  • Participate in a training workshop and access resources useful to engage in policy dialogue;
  • Contribute to developing the strategic advocacy action plan of the organization they represent;
  • Take part in a dynamic networking with organizations with similar objectives.

The CSO WINS project aims to enable organizations to actively participate in the monitoring of policies concerning gender equality through the promotion of networking in this area. It is implemented by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in partnership with the Association of Victims of Terrorism Djazairouna, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research, the Federation of the Democratic League of Women's Rights, the Forum Femmes Méditerranée, the Palestinian Businesswomen's Association Asala and the Euro-Mediterranean Academic and Scientific Network on Women and Gender.

Musa Gowon: Son of former ruler Yakubu Gowon to return to Nigeria after 22 years in US prison

The son of former Nigerian military head of state Yakubu Gowon is due to return to Nigeria after spending 22 years in a US prison after being convicted on drug-related charges. It is believed Musa Gowon was released from the Taft Correctional Facility Bakersfield, California, after US President Barack Obama granted him pardon earlier in November.
