NHS in crisis: Only four hospitals in England met A&E targets in first three months of 2016

According to new statistics, only four hospitals in England have hit the Government A&E targets in the first three months of 2016. Frontline NHS staff say growing pressures on hospitals in England is pushing them towards "crisis". A&E target was introduced by the Department of Health for NHS acute hospitals in England. It says 95% of patients attending an A&E department must be seen, treated, admitted or discharged in under four hours.

Revised measurements of 2007 OR10 revealed it has a diameter of 955 miles (1,535km) – 155 miles (250km) bigger than previous estimates. This makes it the third biggest dwarf planet in the solar system – and the largest without a name. 2007 OR10 was discovered almost a decade ago. It is the third farthest object in the solar system, with only Eris and V774104 exceeding it. Because these objects are so distant, small and cold, they are very difficult to observe, meaning details about their basic properties, like their size, are not well known.

72-year-old woman gives birth to her first child

It said Daljinder Kaur gave birth to a baby boy at a fertility clinic in the northern Indian state of Haryana, following two years of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment. The report noted that though Kaur doesn’t possess any official paper to justify her age, but doctors at the hospital have registered her age as 72 years. It noted that if Kaur’s age is correct, that makes her one of the world’s oldest woman to become mother. 

1MDB scandal: Malaysian prime minister's stepson invested '$50m in suspected graft' in US real estate

At least $50m (£35m, €44m) that was allegedly diverted from scandal-ridden Malaysian state investment fund 1MDB was invested in expensive real estate in New York and Los Angeles, by the stepson of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, according to a published report. The Wall Street Journal obtained documents, which were corroborated by sources, revealing that film producer Riza Aziz used suspected funds from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad fund to buy a massive $33.5m (£23.2m, €29.5m) duplex in the Park Laurel condominium tower overlooking Manhattan's Central Park, as well as a $17.5m (£11.8m, €15.3m) mansion in Beverly Hills, California.

South African Judge Mabel Jansen on special leave over blacks rape 'pastime' claim

A South African judge has been put on special leave following the emergence of Facebook comments in which she claimed sexual violence was part of black people's culture. The country's justice ministry said Mabel Jansen will be investigated for alleged misconduct as thousands of people have been calling for her t o quit the bench at the Gauteng High Court. Minister of justice Michael Masutha decided to grant the special leave after a complaint was lodged by Judge President Dunstan Mlambo. "I have granted leave for Madame Justice Mabel Jansen with immediate effect.That I have not hesitated to grant leave, special leave in this instance, confirms how I view this allegation," Masutha said in a statement.
