Man wakes up after five-hour dentist visit to find all his teeth removed

A man in Indiana was rushed to hospital last month after a gruelling five-hour dental procedure where all of his teeth were removed, having entered expecting to have them take just four. Donny Grisby was told he would just be having four teeth removed but ended up covered in blood in an ambulance, according to the family.

After five hours in the waiting room of White River Dental, Grisby's wife Amanda told WRTV that she demanded to know what was going on. She discovered that the dentist had decided to remove all of her husband's teeth because they were worried an infection might spread, even though Grisby had entered expecting only four to be removed.
Amanda Grisby says that her husband was unresponsive and covered in blood, he then coded twice in an ambulance while being taken to hospital. Speaking to the local news channel, Amanda said: "He had been put into a medically induced coma, and he was laying there crying."
Donny said: "I am so ashamed now. I have no teeth." He also says that he has blood clots because of the procedure and has to use an oxygen tank.
A statement was provided to WRTV by Karen Cantou Consulting which says that the dentist is unable to respond because of patient confidentiality laws but did say that "all the proper consent forms are signed prior to any treatment being performed on any patient at White River Dental".
"I, as well as all of our well trained staff, strive in every situation to make sure the patient and/or legal guardian understands all issues that may arise prior to accepting the treatment plan, as well as making sure they understand our due diligence in securing positive final results."
The Grisbys said they have retained a lawyer and are seeking to file a malpractice lawsuit.
