
A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said that one of the attackers blew themselves up while two others were killed.
Initial reports from Russian agencies suggested that three suicide bombers had blown themselves up with some reports saying there were even a total of four attackers.
A police source said the attacks occurred around 10.40am local time (7.40am GMT) near the building of the regional police department in the town of Novoselitskoye.
Meanwhile, Stavropol governor Vladimir Vladimirov has since ordered the evacuation of kindergartens, schools and hospitals in the district.
He said, according to the agency TASS, that it was not being ruled out the attacks were a distraction "and may be followed by other criminal acts".
Initial reports suggest that no one else was hurt in the attacks in the city, which is located near the restive north Caucasus region.
